Nature + plants specifically cannabis has been the wave for holistic healing in recent years + the plant that brought Yea Yia’s Garden to full bloom. Our two different health journeys led us to one common goal which is a holistic approach to pain management + overall wellness.

Christine Newell discovered her love for plants while owning a floral shop. There, she was able to work closely with a host of different plants + flowers while learning the origins, growing methods + most importantly the health benefits they embody. The more she learned about these plants that could potentially save lives, the more she wanted to take agricultural route to healing her pain.

Stacy Haynes, also a co-owner of Yia Yia’s Garden grew up in a very rural area in Mississippi. Growing up, he lived behind a farm + spent a lot of time there talking to the farm owner, learning about growing an endless assortment of plants + vegetables. Later in life, he would go on to pursue a degree in agriculture from Western Illinois University while also working part time at Christine’s flower shop. The two instantly bonded over the pain they endured daily. With Stacey’s scoliosis + Christine’s arthritis, they decided to join forces to find a holistic + natural approach to manage their pain so that they could enjoy the lives they were building.

Around 2010, shortly after medical + recreational marijuana legalization, hemp made a very strong comeback. With extensive studies + knowledge being published daily about the productivity, vast benefits + multi-purpose use of the plant, hemp was the solution. Knowing that this plant would be an escape from the prescribed pain medicines that were not only bad for organs but also physically making them sick, they combined their love for nature + desire to help others ass the seeds that started Via Yia’s Garden.
